Then I retraced about 25 miles, passing through another Border Patrol check point, to White Sands National Monument.

The park's visitor center has a large gift shop and small museum. After a look around the gift shop, I drove through the park, stopping only for pictures and to walk the few hundred yards of boardwalk. The park seems to mainly revolve around people picnicking and sliding down the dunes. There are a number of activities that might interest me on a different visit, particularly a moonlight bike ride.
