Janis Ian On March 12, 2011 we went to the Polsky Theatre of the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas to see Society's Child, Janis Ian. She played to a full and receptive house in the small modern theater. I have encountered Janice several times at science fiction conventions (including Torcon 3 where she was married in 2001), but had never had a chance to hear Janis perform live. I had brought along my camera "just in case Janis might permit photos" and was delighted when they announced that photography was permitted. Even flash photography! Janis' voice has lost nothing over the years and I enjoyed the concert very much, particularly when she sang At Seventeen and Married In London. The night would have been perfect for me if Janis had sung Welcome Home (The Nebulas Song), but I realize that few in the audience would have understood it.
